COST-WORTH QUESTIONAIRE

Best Practice in Business Process Reengineering (BPR)
in Australian Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

PROJECT BACKGROUND

Cost-Worth (CW) is about developing a unique integrative approach to Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) continuously improving their business and processes, and focusing on their customers. The CW project is being conducted by an international consortium, consisting of the EU, Switzerland and Australia.

The purpose of this survey is to gain an overview of the SMEs by collecting a diversified sample of information regarding their actual problems. This is the "Analysis and Conception" (A&C) phase, which includes: systems, organization, technology, planning and control of introduction, and performance measurement, as part of the overall CW methodology.

Results of this survey will be used in conjunction with the outcomes from an advanced on-line tool to assist with the next phase, "Specification and Selection" (S&S), in which the processes to be re-engineered and the technological solution to support them will be specified.

INTRODUCTION

The CW method aims at a holistic approach, which includes the general, marketing, management, technology and cultural aspects (first section of the survey), as well as planning, systems/order management and measurement (subsequent sections).

The survey is organized as follows:

Section A - General & Cultural Organizational issues + Marketing & Management
Section B - Business Process Reengineering (BPR)
Section C - Order Management
Section D - Design
Section E - Production Planning
Section F - Materials Management
Section G - Delivery Management
Section H - Performance Measurement

Each section is self-contained. Once you have answered a section's questions, you will be provided with the outcomes for that section immediately afterwards. You can therefore either complete all sections in order, or you can choose to complete only the sections that are more relevant to you and in your preferred order.
